Hello, everyone, and thanks. And welcome back to my channel. If you're new here, my name is Aidan Noona, a hypnotherapist and coach of over 30 years experience. Today, I'm going to share with you something that can make a big difference if you're dealing with IBS on a daily basis. I'm going to share the top 5 effective ways to manage IBS symptoms daily. Now living with IBS can really be challenging, but there are practical ways to manage the symptoms and improve your quality of life. Let's dive into the top 5 strategies you can start using today. Number 1 is identifying and avoiding trigger foods.
Aidan Noone [00:00:43]:
Now I'm not a dietitian, and I highly recommend that you consult with a suitable qualified dietitian in this matter. In fact, I would insist on it. Everyone's triggers can be different, but common culprits include dairy, gluten, caffeine, and certain high FODMAP foods. Now keeping a food diary can help you spot patterns and identify what triggers your symptoms. Now once you know your triggers, you can avoid them, and avoid and find suitable alternatives, as I say. Now number 2 is managing stress. Stress is a major trigger for IBS symptoms. Techniques like breathing exercises, meditation, and indeed other form of exercising can help you stay calm and reduce stress.
Aidan Noone [00:01:36]:
Even setting aside a few minutes a day for relaxation can make a big difference. And number 3 is staying hydrated. Drinking plenty of water helps keep your digestive system moving smoothly. It's especially important if you experience constipation. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water a day and try to limit caffeinated and alcoholic beverages as they can dehydrate you. They are diuretics. Now number 4 is eating smaller, more manageable meals, and this may help you. Again, consult with your dietitian.
Aidan Noone [00:02:17]:
Large meals can overwhelm your digestive system and exacerbate IBS symptoms. Instead, try having 5 or 6 smaller meals throughout the day. This can help maintain steady digestion and prevent bloating and discomfort. Again, consult with your suitable qualified dietitian. And number 5 is incorporating regular exercises into your daily routine. Physical activity can help stimulate normal contractions of the intestines and the digestive tract. Aim for at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. Activities like walking, cycling, or even other gentle exercises can be hugely beneficial to you.
